  • Pupils take part in Green Day

    Published 14/06/21

At the beginning of May, pupils were invited to dress in a green item and to pay £1 to raise awareness for the Ipswich Deaf Children’s Society, (IDCS). They chose green as this is adopted colour of the IDCS. Mrs Reeve ran an assembly about children that are partially or fully deaf, and how this affects their lives. The pupils also learnt some simple British Sign Language. The IDCS is entirely managed by parents of deaf children and their professionals on a voluntary basis. As a charity, they rely on financial contributions to help them fund specialist equipment, family events and day outings, signed performances at the theatre, swimming lessons using British Sign Language and many other essential support needs.
We are delighted to say that as a small school, we managed to raise £30 for this worthy charity.

Pupils were delighted to be able to dress up as their favourite book/TV characters and both bubbles took part in separate book based activities this year.

  • Charsfield Pupils join the Suffolk Library Scarecrow Trail

    Published 22/03/21

As part of the Suffolk Library Scarecrow Trail, pupils from Charsfield School have made scarecrows of their favourite Julia Donaldson characters. As a school we follow the Values for Life in our daily school lives including: friendship, hope, creativity, loyalty, trust, perseverance, service and humility. Many of these themes run through Julia Donaldson's books and we used them to inspire us to create scarecrows to take part in the Suffolk Library Scarecrow Trail this Easter. The children have worked hard and are very proud of their efforts. Please do come and see them at the front of our school.

Suffolk coloratura soprano Christina Johnston, joined our pupils via Zoom for a special remembrance assembly. Christina, who is an ambassador for the Purple Poppy Appeal and the War Horse Memorial, explained her role to pupils and sang two songs for remembrance. Pupils asked Christina questions about her career and what it was like to sing for so many people, including Chinese Presidents!  Pupils and staff then gathered around the poppy wreath that we had made at the front of the school for a two minutes silence  at 11am, and then  followed this by singing "Remember" to onlookers, who had stopped to pay their respects with us.
